Diamond drills as thin as hair? In 2022, WORLDIA launched what technically seems impossible: PCD (polycrystalline diamond) micro drills, starting from 0,08 mm diameter, mainly for electronic and medical applications.
Most recently, WORLDIA took this development to the next stage with a portfolio of multitooth ultra-precision diamond endmills. Equipped with a solid PCD or binderless CVD-Diamond cutting head, WORLDIA shapes them with it’s self-developed, patented laser technologies to an endless variety of profiles, radii, straight and helical tooth geometries in accuracies of a few micrometers and exactly tailored to the specific application and workpiece material. These materials include ceramics, tungsten carbide, glass, composite, copper, brass and precious metals.
Diameters start from 0,5 mm, e.g. with 8 teeth, and reach up to 16 mm with 720 teeth. Length of center-cutting diamond head can be up to 2 mm. For bigger diameters, the multitooth cutters are equipped with brazed diamond tips.
Similar tools with solid PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) head complete WORLDIA’s portfolio, especially for milling of hardened steel in die and mold industry.
Besides laser technology, WORLDIA’s core competencies include diamond material science and in-house production of PCD and CVD-diamond materials as well as diamond coatings. Thus, WORLDIA has all core processes under control which ensures highest product quality and consistency.
